Who doesn’t love receiving positive feedback? And what better time to deliver it than on Valentine’s Day?
It can often feel like we only see and read negativity and doom and gloom articles these days, with positive accounts with rays of hope few and far between.
However, here at Allcontrols, we love to concentrate and focus on the positives and try to always look optimistically.
We decided to check in with some of our industry network recently, including our customers and our partners to make sure we were providing them with the level of service we pride ourselves on.
That said, we did openly encourage honesty from them, even if that may have made for uncomfortable reading, but we are pleased to say all the feedback we received was extremely upbeat.
We were going to show you this anonymously, as in true Valentine’s Day message style but, we thought displaying the names was a way of sharing the love…

Green Alliance: Waste and recycling sector a key area for jobs growth
A study by Green Alliance, ‘Closing the UK’s green skills gap’, states that “expanding the circular economy could create hundreds of thousands of new jobs in the UK”. Following challenging times faced by many in the UK due to the pandemic in the form of redundancies, cutbacks and furlough, this is really positive news. Green Alliance’s senior policy advisor, Helena Bennett, called on the UK Government to focus on “supporting businesses, institutions and individuals” to help develop the skills we need for thriving green industries.
Hope for recyclable Covid-19 tests and face coverings
Alternative Covid-19 testing equipment, made from “predominantly recyclable or biodegradable materials” is being explored by NHS Track and Trace according to the health minister. Additionally, the Conservative MP for Arnwood, Edward Argar, has recently said that the potential for reusable face masks to be used in acute settings is being reviewed. If these plans come to fruition, these reusable masks could eventually be recycled into products such as mattress covers or curtains. This is fantastic news, as research from the PNAS revealed that “eight million tons of pandemic-associated plastic waste have been generated globally, with more than 25,000 tons entering the global ocean”.
April 2022 new plastic packaging tax
Although understandably a little controversial among some industries, this new tax set to kick in as of April 2022 will no doubt be a positive for the UK’s waste reduction efforts and the planet as a whole. The policy paper states that the new tax applies to “plastic packaging manufactured in, or imported into the UK, that does not contain at least 30% recycled plastic” and that the government’s aim is to “provide a clear economic incentive for businesses to use recycled plastic in the manufacture of plastic packaging, which will create greater demand for this material. In turn this will stimulate increased levels of recycling and collection of plastic waste, diverting it away from landfill or incineration”. This sounds like a goal that we can definitely get on board with.
