Electro-magnetic separation (also known as isotope separation) can be achieved when charged particles are redirected in a magnetic field, with the amount of deflection depending upon the particle’s density. Unlike using high-gradient magnets, electro-magnetic separation can be switched on and off, which can make cleaning easier.
