Client and Partner focus: 20 years engagement with one of our most loyal customers

Who can say their organisation has machinery or equipment still running after 20 years in operation? And not just running, but running as well as when it was first installed? I suspect that would not be many in the recycling industry.

Material streams such as certain plastics/polymers can be very unforgiving on equipment and so unfortunately that doesn’t bode well for longevity. However, when maintained regularly, it is possible, and we are proud to say we have such a customer!

Falcon Trunking – an early adopter of the recycling revolution!

Falcon Trunking liaised with Allcontrols back in 2005 with the view to requesting machinery to be able to recycle its uPVC pipe and cable management systems with ease.

At the time Allcontrols’ had not long partnered with Hamos GmbH. Now well-known in their field of expertise, back then Hamos’ advanced turn-key technologies in electrostatic separation with unique tribo-electrical behaviours was a fairly new concept in UK recycling. We were able to offer the Hamos’ EKS Electrostatic Separator as an option to Falcon Trunking. From that they became our very first customer to use this technology in the UK.

It is fair to say that 20 years ago, recycling was a lesser-known embraced concept in manufacturing. Now it is a very different story. Legal requirements insist on companies demonstrating sound practices to deal with any manufactured waste materials produced in order to support a better future of our planet. Also, government subsidies have been available to assist organisations become “greener”. So, 2005 saw Falcon Trunking become one of the real recycling pioneers.

With our consultation, we assisted them in the set-up of their uPVC on-site reclamation operation which provides effective processing abilities for the uPVC material stream back into raw materials for further use within their market.

At the time of installation Falcon Trunking’s Director, Kinburn Bargh stated…

“‘This equipment allows us to generate a high-quality feed stock from recycled uPVC material which reduces our requirement for, and reliance on, virgin grade materials. In turn, this delivers improved sustainability credentials and reduces our carbon footprint.”

Look after your investments and they will look after you!

In the case of Falcon Trunking, the reason their Hamos EKS is still operating efficiently is due to a very simple ethos. They have always taken care of their equipment.  Regular servicing, replacement of worn spare parts and consistent maintenance is the answer.

Richard Whitworth, Falcon’s Production Director, is a huge advocate of looking after the machinery within the facility he manages. On our recent visit to the site, he told us…

“Our Hamos EKS is a real workhorse. Falcon Trunking invested wisely 20 years ago in a piece of highly engineered, quality machinery which has served us very well.”

From that initial interaction in 2005, we have created many more satisfied customers using Hamos’ equipment to recycle plastics/polymers, metals, minerals and WEEE.

To date Allcontrols has provided Hamos technologies to many more organisations across the UK, including AO Recycling for fridge polymer/WEEE plant in Telford. On our last count, in PVC alone, Allcontrols has supplied 70+ machines to around 15 companies.
