Electrostatic Separator (KWS)

Allcontrols’ specialist sorting and separation solutions, including electrostatic separators, offer a cost-effective and profitable way of separating mixtures into high-purity fractions.

Allcontrols’ electrostatic (conductive/non-conductive) separation solutions include:

The Hamos KWS electrostatic metal/plastic separator

The Hamos KWS Electrostatic Separator can separate conductive and non-conductive fractions due to the differences between conductivity and de-charging characteristics of materials such as metal and plastics. The Hamos KWS can separate particles of up to 10mm in size.

All particles get charged by a corona (high-voltage) field and positioned on an earthed drum where discharging takes place.

Technical information:
Discharging constant τr = ε0 x εr x ρp
relative dielectricity εmetal
specific resistance ρmetal
Discharging only depends on material characteristics

  • Typical values:
metals: relative dielectricity εmetal ≥ 100
specific resistance ρmetal  ≤ 1 Ωm
plastics: relative dielectricity εplastic ≥ 1
    specific resistance ρplastic  1014 Ωm
  • Typical de-charging constants:
    Metal τmetal = 10 –9 s
    Plastic τplastic = 800 s
    Conductive particles discharge.
  • Typical product streams that are processed with the KWS include:
Cable granulate (from shaker tables) for the recovery of copper.
